Alternative Substrate Materials

In the area of high power LED (>1W) the thermal stability of the system is a key issue. Due to this fact AB Mikroelektronik is developing new substrate materials with superior thermal conductivity. A benchmark of different solution as Al2O3, PluPlaSD TM, Another Plus TM, Si3N4, and IMS technology will be presented. In order to supply the automotive industry we have to proof the reliability standards according thermocycling, humidity storage and high temperature storage. The results will be shown in the presentation. The system approach of LED applications requires four different faculties (mechanical design, electric circuit design, thermal management and optical design). Some ideas and cncepts will be discussed.

PSI-tronic – a highly reliable power module for high temperature automotive applications

PSI-tronic is a trade name for highly reliable electronic modules used in harsh automotive environment designed by AB Mikroelektronik. The mechatronic module drives a 3 phase BLDC motor which is combined with the cooling pump of the cooling system. It is the first realised electrically driven water pump integrated in the new 6 cylinder BMW engine.The lecture will give information about development, high volume production and quality management processes of this mechatronic product.

In Zukunft wird die kombinierte Keramiksubstratlösung in Hybridtechnik für Leistungs- und Regelungsschaltungen den Benchmark für hoch integrierte Power Module darstellen.
